Winter accessory yarn dyeing workshop
Join us at Layfamilyyarn HQ where for the first time we will be running a special yarn dyeing workshop all based around creating your perfect winter woolly hat and mitten kit we will even include the pompom and a knitting pattern!
For this special workshop you will get the opportunity to dye on two different bases and experience how the yarn takes dye differently. You will be using a luxury brushed cashmere silk base and a 4ply merino nylon which pair together perfectly to create a luxurious kitten soft fabric.
This is a unique opportunity to create a truly one of kind yarn combo. Please do not worry if you have b=never so much as thought about dyeing your own yarn Nick is very experienced teacher of his craft and everyone will produce a professional level skein of yarn.
time and date:
The workshop will run from 09:30 - 1pm and will include some time for knitting, crocheting and of course cake!
There will be two dates the 1st and 8th of December with more to follow in the 2025.
Boring but important details:
Workshops are limited to small groups to ensure enough time can be given to create your unique skeins. Your finished yarn will be rinsed, soaked and spun dry but will NOT be dry when the workshop ends. You can take home your yarn and we will explain how to dry or it can posted to you from HQ at a later date with postage costs to be paid by you.
Yarn dyeing does require water and should we have an unusually cold winter where the pipes freeze we will have to re-schedule.
All materials are supplied as well as protective equipment in the dye studio, however we do not recommend wearing your best hand knits! No liability can be accepted for any dye stains occurred during the workshop.
Layfamilyyarn HQ is upstairs and can only be accessed via a staircase, we send apologies if this excludes you.
